This is in response to the Sun Journal story, “Petition seeks to overturn Lisbon Street bike lanes (March 27).

If Darcy Reed had attended the Lewiston City Council meeting, as I did, she would have known that the council had agreed to take another look at the bicycle lane issue in a year to re-evaluate the pros and cons of the lane.

For her to start a people’s initiative is wrongfully directed and would, if successful, impede Lewiston’s economic development effort and the job creation that goes with it, all for no real purpose except to be intrusive and destructive.

Let it be known that I ride a bicycle during the summer months and, in the past, have not seen any real bicycle traffic on inner city Lisbon Street.
