LEWISTON — A community resource fair to share information and resources available to assist the homeless will be held Thursday, April 16, at Kaplan University, 475 Lisbon St. It is free and open to the public.

Janice Lara-Hewey, chairperson of the Lewiston-Auburn Alliance of Services to the Homeless, is working with members of LAASH and the L/A Opening Doors Committee to organize the event.

Many people in the community are struggling to find and keep adequate housing for themselves and their families, she said. “This struggle for housing stability can be caused by a lack of resources, a lack of knowledge and/or a lack of access to the necessary knowledge and resources which would enable people to stabilize their housing situation, thereby stabilizing other parts of their life as well.”

Free food and free parking will be available.

The schedule is:

8 to 10 a.m. — Provider networking

10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  — Resource Fair

1 to 3:30 p.m. — Workshops, including health and wellness, health care systems, tenant rights, fair housing, legal services, veteran services, child development, safety, emergency planning and business education.

4 to 6 p.m. — Same workshops, plus others.
