The Power of Prevention will be led by Maureen Higgins, LCSW, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28. Cancer has impacted almost everyone. There are ways to reduce the risk. The interactive workshop will address healthy living choices, and how to incorporate them. Registration is free, but those interested must register in advance.
Social Media Cleanup will be instructed by Nate LaClaire. The class will explore not only how to clean social media profiles of unfavorable content, but also how to use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social networks to become more attractive to employers. It will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 28. Registration is $9.
Lyme Disease will be led by Amie Levasseur from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 5. Reported cases of Lyme Disease have become increasingly prevalent over the last several years. The discussion, during Lyme Awareness Month, will focus on common misconceptions, prevention, diagnosis and treatment for the tick-borne disease. Registration is $9.
Art Night Out with Artascope Studios will show how to make basic beaded earrings. Make one pair of earrings using basic wire wrapping techniques as well as advanced techniques with chains and clusters. The class will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 7.
Art Night Out with Artascope Studios will be on beginner painting with acrylics. The one-night class will help participants find a style and give them the skills needed to achieve results. The class will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12.
Boating Safety will teach proper boating safety and operation, including handling, equipment and trailering. Laws, environmental ethics, emergencies, self-help, first aid and cold-water survival will be covered. Exam and 100 percent attendance is required. Successful completion will result in a certificate, which serves as proof of compliance if stopped by New Hampshire law enforcement when boating on boundary waters. The course, which meets requirements for operation of personal watercraft by 16- and 17-year-olds, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 23. Registration is $7.
Fitness for Life will be held by Deb Carroll. It will include step aerobics and resistance exercises for cardio, tone, strength and overall fitness. All ages and abilities are welcome. For more information, call Carroll at 576- 7158. All classes are held at the Elm Street School gym from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays. Registration is $25 a six-week session or drop-in for $5 a week.
Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) 2013 certification exams are being offered. Call or email for more information or to make an appointment. Cost of $125 includes preparation and exam.
