AUBURN — A Gray man was charged with robbing the pharmacy in a Lewiston Rite Aid after telling a clerk he had a hand grenade.
Wil Chabot, 39, was indicted Wednesday by an Androscoggin County grand jury on a charge of Class B robbery, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. He also was charged with stealing drugs, a Class C crime punishable by up to five years in prison.
Police said Chabot robbed a Rite Aid pharmacy on Sabattus Street shortly after 8:30 a.m. while wearing a white sheet over his head with holes cut out for his eyes.
He demanded drugs from the pharmacy clerk and told her in a note that he had a hand grenade, police said in an affidavit from court files. The note read: “Don’t scream. I want oxycodone 30 mg and Ritalin. Be quiet and fast or we all die … not a joke.”
He was given the drugs and fled the store, police said. He was captured within half an hour. He was held at Androscoggin County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
