FRYEBURG – Chris Choyce of Denmark, a senior at Fryeburg Academy, won first place in the American Bankers Association’s Lights, Camera, Save! national video contest.

Choyce submitted his entry to Norway Savings Bank, which hosted local levels of the competition and selected a winner to represent the bank and compete on the national level.

Choyce’s video, “Life of Savings,” was created using stop-motion film techniques and features Lego® figures and backdrops that depict the importance of saving.

“We are thrilled for Chris and to be a part of this major accomplishment,” Patricia Weigel, president and CEO of Norway Savings Bank, said.

Choyce is awarded $5,000 and a $250 college scholarship.

Fryeburg Academy will also receive a scholarship from the American Bankers Association to send an educator to the Jump$tart National Educator Conference in National Harbor, Md., in November. The conference offers classroom educators an opportunity to see, learn about and try financial literacy educational resources that integrate immediately into current lesson plans.

Lights, Camera, Save! launched in 2010 as an offshoot of the ABA’s Teach Children to Save program. The competition encourages youths to use video to communicate the value of saving and using money wisely to inspire their peers and others to become lifelong savers.
