This is in response to the sports section article “H.S. softball: Poland doubles up on pitching,” published online on April 16 (print edition, “Rubber rivals turn friendly, April 17).

The article was very well written and certainly gives enough credit to two very good pitchers who deserve it; however, the writer failed to focus on another key component to the team: starting catcher Kelsey DeBurra.

Like Kylie Martin and Kolby Woods, DeBurra has been playing varsity along with the two other ladies since her freshman year at Poland Regional High School. DeBurra joins Martin and Woods on the field at the beginning of each game and likewise will be an essential player for the PRHS softball team in its battle to make it past the quarterfinals.

Credit needs to be given where credit is due, and DeBurra certainly deserves it.
