FARMINGTON – After dropping five straight games in March, the University of Maine at Farmington won five of seven to claim a spot in the upcoming North Atlantic Conference women’s lacrosse tournament.

UMF finished the season as the No. 5 seed and will travel to Bangor to face No. 4 Husson in the first round of the play-offs. The game is set for Sunday, April 26. In the other first round game, No. 3 Colby-Sawyer will host No. 6 New England College on Saturday, April 25.

The Beavers finished conference play with a 4-4 record and 5-7 overall.

Ayla Allen topped the Beavers in scoring, netting 38 goals and four assists. Maddi Kadnar and Carly Raymond ended the regular season with 19 and 18 goals, respectively. Raymond led the Beavers in assists with 10.

Defensively, goalkeeper Patty Smith racked up 82 saves in net.

Castleton finished the season as the NAC top seed posting an 8-0 conference mark. Thomas was second at 6-2.

UMF qualified for the tournament after nipping New England College, 13-10, last Thursday. Allen paced the Beavers clinching win. Scoring six goals, she was recognized before the game for becoming the first player in program history to score 100 career goals. Allen is a Mt. Valley graduate.

In their final regular season game, the Beavers fell to Colby-Sawyer, 15-5, even though UMF out shot its opponent 21-13.
