FARMINGTON — Courtney Fowler hurled a shutout on Saturday, helping the University of Maine at Farmington to an 8-0 softball win over the University of Maine at Presque Isle at Prescott Field.
The Beavers beat the Owls, 7-1 in game two of the doubleheader. Sunday, Bowdoin swept UMF, 13-1 and 10-0. UMF’s record dips to 4-16.
Fowler allowed three hits and struck out six in going the distance. Emily Vitone notched the win in the second game for the Beavers, giving up three hits and striking out five.
Shelby Bryant provided plenty of offense for the Beavers collecting seven hits in the eight at bats in the two games. Katie Clark added five.
UMF will finish out it’s North Atlantic Conference schedule at home this weekend. The Beavers host New England College on Friday, followed by Castleton on Saturday.
UMF is currently in last place in the NAC standings posting a 1-7 conference mark. UMF will need to sweep all four remaining conference games to have a shot at a tournament position.
