RUMFORD — Student Council member Jon Adley announced the Teacher of the Trimester during a recent schoolwide assembly. Lisa Russell was awarded Teacher of the Trimester.

Every 12 weeks, students on the Student Council at Mountain Valley High School select a teacher or staff member to honor.

In presenting the award, Adley said, “The Teacher of the Trimester has been a teacher at Mountain Valley High school since 2006. Before that she was an ed tech. She is currently a class advisor, softball coach and active community member. She is a parent of two Mountain Valley graduates and one current Mountain Valley student.”

Russell accepted the award on stage. When interviewed later, she said, “I’m honored to have been selected as teacher of the trimester.”

French teacher Marie Russell is Lisa’s daughter. After her mother was honored with the award, Marie said, “I was very excited to see my mother win this award. She puts in endless hours for her students, challenges them and supports them. She is an inspirational woman and teacher.”

Russell teaches math, including algebra 10, geometry, algebra II, honors algebra II, statistics and personal finance and honors pre-calculus.

In her spare time, she enjoys time with her family, snowmobiling and camping.
