LIVERMORE FALLS — Residents of the three town RSU 73 will decide whether to approve a 2015-16 operating budget from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28.
Voting will take place in the town offices of Livermore Falls and Livermore, and at the Community Building in Jay.
A light turnout of residents approved the $18.6 million figure at a district-wide, town meeting-styled budget vote on April 7.
Voters will vote yes or no on the proposed budget, which is about $240,000 less than the current year, as well as decide whether to fund installation of an elevator at a cost of $275,000 at Spruce Mountain High School.
Voters will also be asked to act on a second question requesting $108,000 to replace the bleachers at Griffin Field.
Superintendent Kenneth Healey said the decreased proposed budget is the result of six staff members leaving their positions, and not replacing them. He said the duties of these six teachers will be redistributed to other staff members.
The need for an elevator is prompted by a requirement to meet the Americans With Disabilities Act. Currently, the high school offers a chair lift that cannot accommodate a wheelchair.
The bleachers at at football field are in poor condition, according to the board. Healey said the cost to replace them will likely be more than the referendum question. Other funds will be found to complete the replacement.
