EUSTIS — A local man is accused of violently assaulting a female companion in March and of spanking the woman’s young child Tuesday until he bled, according to Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr.
Paul Pitcher, 29, of Eustis was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge of domestic violence aggravated assault and a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence terrorizing against the woman. He has also been charged with a felony charge of domestic violence assault against the 4-year-old child, Nichols said.
Deputies Sandy Burke, Cpl. Christopher Chase and Lt. David St. Laurent responded to a report of domestic violence Wednesday at Flagstaff Apartments.
During the investigation, the woman disclosed that “she was assaulted violently last month and was afraid to call it in,” Nichols said. She was choked during the assault, he said.
He said the Maine Department of Health and Human Services is involved in the case.
Pitcher was being held without bail Wednesday at the Franklin County jail in Farmington.
