The featured books are different, but they share an underlying theme of courage, justice and triumph. To enhance the reading pleasure and knowledge these books provide, the children’s and teen departments will share games, maps, drama, video clips and dramatic portrayals of local, national and international heroes and heroines.
This is the 96th anniversary of Children’s Book Week, the longest running national literacy effort in the United States. In addition to the activities above, the library’s annual Adopt a Book campaign will be held throughout the month of May. Adopt a Book is an opportunity to add to the library’s collection of children’s picture books by purchasing a book from the Adopt A Book display in memory or honor of a loved one.
