PARIS — In honor of Star Wars Day, the Paris Public Library will host a Star Wars party from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 3, in the library’s children’s room.
There will be a variety of activities and crafts for young apprentices to hone their skills and test their knowledge of the Force, including searching for TIE fighters and asteroids, directing dummy proton torpedoes and attacking a TIE fighter pinata.
The program is free and open to all children in the community. Participants may wear Star Wars Universe attire. Those interested in participating are asked to contact the library so sufficient materials are available to assemble enough lightsabers.
The first organized celebration of Star Wars Day, May 4, took place in Toronto, Canada, in 2011 and references to “May the Fourth be With You” go back to 1979.
