1928 – 2015

AUBURN — Arlene Hanlon, 86, formerly of 38 Bailey Ave., Lewiston, died Wednesday, April 22, at the Clover Manor in Auburn, where she had been a resident for the past eight years.

She was born in Auburn on Oct. 14, 1928, she was the daughter of George and Janet McFarlane. Educated in Auburn schools, she was a graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of ’47. She worked in the local shoe industry for several years, mostly at Wood & Smith and Shapiro shoe shops, and later worked as a housekeeper for Marshwood Nursing Home and the Holiday Inn. On March 31, 1961, she married William P. Hanlon. He passed away on Nov. 28, 2010.

She was a member of the Court Street Baptist Church in Auburn, her greatest joy in life came from time spent with her family, especially in the home on Bailey Avenue that she loved and took great pride in.

Survivors include two sons, David and wife, Kristen,  of Litchfield and Mark of Lewiston; three daughters, Cheryl and husband, Joseph Berube, of Augusta, Cindy and husband, James Staples, of College Station, Texas, and Tina and husband, Henry Letourneau of Litchfield; a sister-in-law, Lillian McFarlane of Fryeburg; eight grandchildren, Pamela Cornish, James Cloutier, J.B. Staples, Dallas Staples, Randy Letourneau, Emma Hanlon, David Hanlon and Brenden Hanlon; six great-grandchildren and one more on the way.

Arlene’s family would like to thank the staffs of Clover Health Care and Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for all the loving care they gave her.
