MEXICO — In a fundraiser to benefit the March of Dimes, two employees of the Rumford Hannaford dove into the cold of the swimming hole in the Mexico Recreation Park Wednesday afternoon.
As a result of the store raising at least $100 for the March of Dimes, pharmacy manager Scott Frasier and meat manager Corey Smith took the “Polar Plunge for March of Dimes.”
Getting to the event wasn’t easy as there was confusion getting into the park as the front gate was locked. Eventually, they made they way into the drive of the highway garage, past the sand pile and to the entrance to the back side of the park.
This is part of the store’s ongoing fundraising for the March of Dimes, which has included bake sales and cookouts. Another cookout is being planned, along with a yard sale.
March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization that funds research and programs related to improving the general health of mothers and babies..
