LEWISTON — In order to spotlight the challenges of adult college-going and the benefits created through mentoring nontraditional age students, College for ME-Androscoggin announces its 1st Annual College Navigator Summit, to be held from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, at Bates College.
This Summit will convene trained college navigators, adult students, community members, and both adult education and college professionals to discuss the types of obstacles that typically get in the way of adult students obtaining their degrees. Summit participants will discuss such issues and attempt to find ways of coping with or overcoming these obstacles, with the overall goal of the summit to determine the next steps to help even more adults effectively and efficiently obtain college degrees.
There will be two college navigator trainings before the summit and people may still register to attend: College Navigator 202: Helping Adult Students Surmount Obstacles Once Enrolled, held from 9-10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 1; and College Navigator 203: Helping Adult Students Be Savvy About Paying for College on Thursday, May 7, also from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Both these trainings will be held at the Auburn Public Library. They are co-sponsored by College for ME-Androscoggin and the Auburn Public Library.
