GRAY — The Maine Wildlife Park in Gray will celebrate International Migratory Bird Day by assisting visitors as they build birdhouses. The event is set from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9.
Coveside Conservation, a locally owned company that sells bird houses for every species of cavity nesting bird in North America, will be on hand featuring many examples of different bird houses and structures.
Park staff and volunteers will take participants through building and advising on habitats to hang the birdhouses to benefit local cavity nesting birds. Building will be on a first come, first served basis. The park has 100 kits available, and there is no additional fee for the activity, suitable for ages 8 and older. Our goal is to help out bird populations by sending you home with a suitable nesting place for your local birds.
