HARRISON — Harrison Parks and Recreation is gearing up for another exciting and fun summer recreation day camp dubbed “Educational Recess.”

Children will learn life skills from trained counselors and instructors in a safe, fun and positive outdoor environment.

The Fun, Friends & Fitness summer day camp is for Harrison girls and boys entering grades 1 through 7 in the fall.

Registrations for this eight-week camp and six-week American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, May 12 and 13 at the Town Office for Harrison residents only.

The deadline to register is Friday, May 29. Registrations will then be accepted for non-residents if space allows.

The fee is $225 and $215 for each additional sibling. That covers sports, games, swimming, a tie-dyed T-shirt, nutrition education program, library program, comprehensive arts and crafts program, canoe and kayak lessons for children over 8 years of age and one three-week session of swimming lessons.

The summer program will kick off on Monday, June 22, and close on Thursday, Aug. 13. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at Crystal Lake Park and Beach.

The camp will move to the Harrison School on rainy days and during Harrison’s Old Home Days. If you need supervision for your child or children before and after day camp operations, contact Enrichment Program Director Deb Ward at 207-504-6464

The Learn-to-Swim program will begin on Monday, June 29, and also end on Thursday, August 13. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and will be offered in two three-week sessions.

This program is for children ages 6 months and up beginning at the Parent/Child Level to Level 6. Lessons are 30 minutes and will also be offered on rainy days as age appropriate videos will be shown in the swim building.

The fee for one three-week session of swim lessons is $25 for Harrison residents and $45 for visitors.

During registrations,  parents will receive the Daily Activity Calendar and The Friendly Village Summer Day Camp Newsletter offering parents information that will assure each child’s summer day camp experience is rewarding and memorable.

Flyers will be sent home through the school mailboxes.
