FARMINGTON — Mt. Blue centerfielder Rachele Bator hit a mammoth two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to help the Cougars jump on Mt Ararat early, in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference softball game at Prescott Field.

Pitcher Caitlin Kane stymied the Mt. Ararat bats throwing a three hitter while striking out seven. Mt. Blue improved to 2-3 with the win.

Bator added an RBI single for Mt. Blue in the 3rd inning and the Cougars tacked on two more runs in the 4th on a single to right field by Kasadie Barker, a double to right center by Kane and an RBI single to center by Brandi Harris.

Neither Kane or Eagle pitcher Alana Weaver allowed a walk in the game.

Brad Durrell doubled twice and singled and pitcher Ryan Pratt threw a shutout as Mt. Blue grabbed a 12-0 baseball victory over Mt. Ararat, in a game played at Hippach Field.

After six innings, the Cougars (4-1) were firmly in control with a 6-0 lead. For the afternoon, Mt. Blue collected 12 hits and didn’t make an error.

Pratt, Anthony Franchetti and Colton Lawrence each had two hits. For Mt. Ararat, Kevin Carter had two hits.

Olivia Ryan had three hits, drove in three runs and was the winning pitcher in Mt. Abram’s first win of the season, a 13-5 decision over Winthrop.

Abby Brackley added two singles and two RBI for Mount Abram (1-3). Lilly Beauregard had a two-run single for Winthrop (0-4), Mackenzie Guerin added a single and an RBI and Kayleigh Oberg tripled.

Ben Allen had a triple, single and scored three runs to help lead Winthrop to a 9-2 win over Mt. Abram in Mountain Valley Conference baseball.

Mario Meucci and Dakota Carter each drove in three runs for the Ramblers (4-0). Ben Caprara had two singles and two RBI as well.

Mt. Abram dropped to 0-4.
