PARIS — An Oxford County sheriff’s deputy said a Brownfield man and a juvenile were charged Monday with stealing, torching and crashing vehicles late last week.

Derek Foster, 23, of Brownfield and a 16-year old boy were arrested at around 9 p.m. Monday in Brownfield, Cpl. Justin Brown said.

Foster was being held without bail at the Oxford County Jail in Paris on felony charges of theft, aggravated criminal mischief, arson and burglary. He is scheduled to make an initial appearance in Oxford County Superior Court on Wednesday.

Charges against the juvenile were not immediately available Tuesday.

According to Brown, Foster and the juvenile are accused of stealing four cars Thursday and Friday evenings. Two were pushed into the Saco River, another was set on fire and the fourth was crashed into a ditch in Brownfield, he said.

The vehicles were unlocked and had keys in the ignition when they were taken, he said. Two cars were from Brownfield, one was from Hiram and one from Fryeburg.

The case remains under investigation, Brown said.
