AUBURN – In accordance with the tradition of the American Public Works Association, those who work in professions that provide and maintain public facilities and services will be recognized during National Public Works Week, May 17 to 23. Activities and programs scheduled just before and during this week will celebrate the contributions of public works professionals as well as the communities they serve.

Public works professional include those who manage water, sewer, roads, bridges, public transportation and refuse removal systems as well as those responsible for maintaining public buildings and grounds. They are the people who maintain and improve the systems and services vital to a community’s health, safety and comfort.

Auburn Public Services will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at 269 Gracelawn Road.

It will have equipment displays, storm water demonstrations, engineering demonstrations, free food, bouncy slide for the kids, raffles and games.
