1946 – 2015
LEWISTON — Richard A. Hamel, 68, of Auburn died Tuesday, May 12, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born in Lewiston on July 28, 1946, a son of Robert and Cecile Comeau Hamel. He graduated from Lewiston High School in the Class of 1964.
Dick was a truck driver for over 35 years, retiring due to his illness in 2005. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Cross Church.
He enjoyed watching the Red Sox and the Bruins and playing cards.
Dick was forever grateful for the gift of life of two lungs he received in 2008.
He is survived by his son, Brent Hamel and companion, Tanya Belanger, of Lewiston; grandchildren, Kayla and Andrea Hamel; his sisters, Pauline Roux of Saco, Denise Arsenault and husband, Roger, of Clinton, Mass.; his brothers, Normand Hamel and wife, Jacqueline, of Lewiston, Paul Hamel and wife, Tracy, of Colorado Springs, Colo.
He was predeceased by his son, Chad Hamel; and his mom and dad.
