LIVERMORE FALLS — The Regional School Unit 73 board was told Thursday night about the upcoming installation of an elevator at Spruce Mountain High School and new bleachers for Griffin Field.

Superintendent Kenneth Healey said the projects are expected to begin soon after schools close Friday, June 19, and be completed this summer.

Voters approved spending $275,000 for the elevator and $108,000 for bleachers at the football field.

He said turning over the former Livermore Falls high and middle schools to the town is expected to be completed by the end of June. The former high school’s cafeteria and some of the grounds are used for a summer youth program.

“The town can use it (for that) and be completely responsible by July 1,” Healey said.

Those organizations that use a section of the former high school for storage should contact the Livermore Falls town manager to learn whether those items can remain, he said.

Sports uniforms that were used by students in Livermore Falls high and middle schools are also being stored at the high school. It was suggested they be given to the Spruce Mountain Sports Boosters Club but no decision was made.

Voters also approved spending $240,824 for the three-town adult and community education program. A full-time adult education director position is still open. Administrator Wendy Moreau has been filling in.

Healey said an applicant for the position is not certified, but a neighboring adult education director has offered to work with that person so he or she may become certified.

In other matters, he said the district has about 100 outdated laptop computers used by students. He suggested they be offered to district employees for $100 each and if there are any left they could be offered to others in the community.

Healey also thanked voters for passing the $18.65 million 2015-16 budget and two separate facilities questions at a referendum last month.
