MONMOUTH — The United Church of Monmouth auctioned off a “Birds in the Air” quilt. The winner, Claire Poussard, of Auburn, participated in a 12-week winter class “Sewing for Kids” with her granddaughter at the Packard Activity Center.

Poussard said she is “thrilled” to have the quilt.

The proceeds of the auction went toward updating the community kitchen at the PAC at the church. FMI: 207-993-2931.

The United Church of Monmouth will auction off a ‘Breeze in the Woods’ machine-sewn and donated quilt from Nancy Ludewig on or before Saturday, Aug. 1, with proceeds to benefit the community kitchen renovation and updates at the church.

The quilt is made of forest-colored patterns on a white background with a “piano keys” border. The pattern is also made with pinwheels and is large enough for a camp bed. The quilt was machine-sewn by Betty DeWitt of Missouri.

The quilt can be seen hanging at the Apple Valley Bakery, Main Street, Monmouth. One-hundred tickets will be sold. The price for one ticket is $3; two tickets, $5.
