NORWAY — The Alan Day Community Garden will hold its annual sale of organic seedlings from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m Saturday, May 30, at 26 Whitman St. in Norway. Seedlings will include vegetable starts, flowers and perennials.
The garden is also announcing its schedule for the 2015 growing season. Free workshops include Yoga for Gardeners, June 13; Permaculture Basics, June 20; Integrated Pest Management, July 18; Composting Basics, July 25; Traditional Scything and Building a PV Solar Array, both August 8; Presto Pesto! Aug. 15; and Garden to Gourmet, Sept. 12, followed by the annual Harvest Party.
In addition to the free workshops, several fundraisers will support the Garden’s work. A Fiber Felting Fun Fundraiser will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon on June 20. The annual “Light the Garden” event and silent auction will be June 27. Maine singer-songwriter Kate Schrock will perform a benefit concert on August 15.
Plots are available to rent for a nominal fee, and funds are available for those who cannot afford the fee. Applications for this summer’s Youth Leadership Program are still being accepted.
