LIVERMORE FALLS – The Annual History Night and Cruise-In will take place in the downtown from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 22.

The Livermore Falls’ downtown used to be a hopping place on Friday nights. Organizer Kenny Jaques said, “Dennis Stires began History Night as a way to once again draw people to the downtown area and frequent local businesses.”

While there was some uncertainty about this year’s event, people have pulled together to make it happen. There will be something for everyone to enjoy. 

There will be several historic displays set up. Booths for the Livermore/Livermore Falls Historical Society and the Jay Historical Society will be found in the Knowlton Block. Bessey Design will have information about local sports history in the Lamb Block. The Paper and Heritage Museum on Church Street will also be open to the public.

Entertainment opportunities will also abound. Jason Gibbs will again provide hay wagon tractor rides. Organizer Kenny Jaques said,” This is always a crowd favorite!”

Also featured will be two musical groups. The Livermore Elementary Rockin’ Rollers will be performing just before 5 p.m. in the Lamb Block parking lot. The young students in this group will be under the direction of Jan Gill. Shortly after 5:30 p.m., Matt and the Barnburners with Jan Gill will be performing in that area.

Many local charities will be raffling off items, selling food, or offering other ways to benefit a group or organization. Test drive a new car at Bailey Bros. Ford and $20 will be donated to AYS. This will be a fun way to support area youth sports programs. Another way to help AYS will be purchasing food or drinks at their food wagon which will be next to the Knowlton Block. According to Jaques, the AYS fries are the best around.

The Jake Lord Play It Safe Foundation will have a raffle in addition to selling chili, hot dogs and beverages. This foundation works to make youth sports safer. It also strives to educate about the devastating consequences of head injuries and the impact concussions have on an athlete’s mental health.

Rooted Youth, an organization that works to keep area kids active in the community, will be selling food, painting facees, and providing other fun activities while raising money for the group.

Treat Memorial Library will also hold a raffle. They will also be selling popcorn and snow cones by Kenny Smith.

The Chuck Wagon Restaurant will be open. 

Additional vendors and displays may be added.Jaques said, “The weather is looking perfect for Friday night.” He anticipates 200 a ntique car, trucks, tractors and motorcycles stopping by for a short time or the entire evening.

Jaques said special interest vehicles are also welcome. Those with newer Mustangs, Camaros, or Corvettes are urged to stop by. Anyone with an interesting muscle car or big 4×4 trucks should also stop by.

History Night and Cruise-In is always a great time for kids and adults alike. Jaques said, “I want to be sure and thank those who have donated money and their time to keep this event alive, especially the Jay Livermore Livermore Falls (JLLF) Chamber of Commerce for taking on the event.”

Donations can still be made to the JLLF Chamber to help cover expenses for this event. An account has been set up specifically for History Night. Jaques encourages people to come out and enjoy the evening.
