CARRABASSETT VALLEY — Western Maine Center for Children is holding a cycling event starting at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 31, in Eustis.

Suggested distance goals from the starting point in Eustis (just north of Cathedral Pines Campground and the Pines Market) are 11 miles to Sarampus Falls, 18 miles to Natanis Point Overlook, and 25 miles to the Canadian Border in Coburn Gore; round trip riding doubles those miles to 22, 36, and 50 miles.

The route takes cyclers along a Maine scenic roadway following Route 27 north and the Arnold Trail. The entire route has paved shoulders, good road conditions, minimal traffic, views, and often moose or other wildlife sightings. Road cyclists and mountain bikers are invited.

Suggested donations are $25 a person, or $40 for a group of immediate family members; all proceeds to benefit Early Childhood Care and Education Programs at Western Maine Center for Children, a local nonprofit center located in Carrabassett Valley and serving the Eustis-Sugarloaf-Kingfield area workforce.

Snacks, beverages, and route support will be provided by volunteers, local first responders and the Franklin County Sheriff Department. To sign up to ride, email Marcia White at [email protected] or call 441-9053.
