The Mt. Blue 8th grade baseball team crushed Madison 25-3 and then suffered a 15-7 loss to Messalonskee in middle school baseball action this week. The young Cougars now stand at 3-2 for the season.

At Madison, Mt. Blue jumped out to a 7-0 first inning lead and never looked back. Caleb Talbot lead the offense with 5 hits, 5 runs and 5 RBI’s. Wyatt Viles scored 5 times with 4 RBI’s. Colin Hutchins, Jagger Bullen and Isaac Osbourne each reached base five times.

Isaac Cardona hurled two strong innings, striking out five. Randy Barker retired all five batters he faced to close out the game. Kile Heikkinen, Noah Bell, Hutchins, and Talbot all played well in the field.

Hosting Messalonskee, the Cougars again had the bats going well, but numerous errors in the field and on the bases turned the tide in favor of the visitors by a final margin of 15-7.

Garrett Reynolds had a pair of hits and scored twice for Mt. Blue. Talbot also had two hits and batted in a pair of runs. Barker again pitched well in relief, striking out five and allowing just two runs (one earned) in four innings of work. Bell was again outstanding on defense behind the plate.
