PORTLAND (AP) — A Portland lawyer has been sentenced to three months in jail as part of a plea deal in his child pornography case.

The Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/1K8z3jh ) reported that Lawrence Winger, of Falmouth, was taken into custody Wednesday after pleading guilty to possession of sexually explicit images of children younger than 12.

The 64-year-old Winger was sentenced to five years in prison, but most of that time was suspended. He also got four years of probation.

Authorities say Winger’s laptop computer and two external hard drives had dozens of images and videos of children engaged in sexual activity. Police say none of the images appeared to be of Maine victims.

Winger is a respected attorney in the labor and employment law who has handled several high-profile cases in Maine.
