Phi Kappa Phi chapter inducts local students

ORONO — Forty-seven members of University of Maine community were inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and largest collegiate honor society, during the chapter’s annual meeting on campus March 19.

Local student inductees were Kyle Castagnetto of Winslow, Kelly A. Edwards of Pownal, Naomi Caywood of New Sharon and Jamie Lynn St. Pierre of Wilton.

Turner Resident interns at dental clinic abroad

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Greta Castonguay of Turner served an internship this fall as an assistant at Clinica Dental Adra in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. She took a 12-week trip to the capital, Malabo, and shadowed a dentist at the local clinic.

Castonguay’s responsibilities included observing and noting the dailt activities and procedures conducted in the office. Through the course of the internship, she gained on-site experience and enhance her problem-solving and teamwork skills.

After her trip, she learned the harsh truth that dental health was a window to our overall health. She hopes to go back one day to Equatorial Guinea to provide the education and resources needed for natives to receive dental health care.

Castonguay is a biology major in the Class of 2016. A 2012 graduate of Leavitt Area High School, she is the daughter of David and Gisele Castonguay.

Anissa Dann Recognized at Wittenberg University’s 2015 Honors Convocation

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Concluding a day-long Celebration of the Liberal Arts at Wittenberg University, the campus community celebrated the achievements of students and faculty members at the annual Honors Convocation April 10 in Weaver Chapel. The faculty commemorated the occasion in full academic regalia as the university recognized high achievement of students and faculty members in academic and co-curricular activities.

Anissa Dann of Hiram was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta. Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honor society that seeks to recognize and to encourage scholarship among first-year college women. Selection is based entirely on achieving a 3.5 cumulative grade point average for fall semester of the first year.
