RUMFORD — The Ancestral Androscoggin Esker field trip for the Rumford Historical Society is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, to explore local geological features discussed at the society’s annual meeting on May 20.
The trip will start at 10 a.m. at the Rumford Point Congregational Church, located at the juncture of Routes 2 and 232 in Rumford Point. Participants are asked to arrive by 9:45a.m. and park on either side of Route 2 and walk to the church where carpooling will be arranged.
Attire for the trip should be suitable for the existing weather, and participants should wear good walking shoes. The group will walk a little, according to the ability of participants.
Those going should bring drinking water and a bag lunch. The group plans to be back at Rumford Point Church by 2 to 2:15 p.m. All are invited.
If the weather is rainy, the trip will take place on Saturday, June 6, same time and place.
