OXFORD — Police said two drivers escaped serious injury when their cars collided head-on at a busy intersection in Welchville village Friday afternoon.

Oxford police said Malaney Cassano, 25, was driving north on Route 26 at around 3 p.m. and a sedan driven by 76-year-old Jeannette Duguay of Berlin, N.H., attempted a left turn from the southbound lane of Route 26 on Route 121.

Duguay was transported by ambulance to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway for observation.

Police said Cassano, who had recently moved to Maine from Massachusetts, was not hurt.

Cassano’s 2014 Toyota Camry and Duguay’s Chrysler sedan were demolished.
