CHESTERVILLE — The Wiles, a dynamic trio of acoustic musicians — Ellie Buckland, Mali Obomsawin, and Isa Burke — all of whom recently studied at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, will perform a benefit concert for the Friends of the Chesterville Meeting House Center at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 12.

The meeting house is located at the corner of Borough and Zion’s Hill roads in Chesterville. Admission is by donation.

For the past three years the Meeting House, a nonprofit organization, has succeeded in meeting its annual operating costs largely through the proceeds generated by a concert featuring talented musicians who are donating their performance.

The Wiles play a variety of American roots music, including bluegrass, folk, old-time, blues and contemporary indie folk-rock using guitar, banjo, fiddle, upright bass, and the tight harmonies of their rich voices.

Prior to the concert, at 6:30 p.m., there will be an open jam session.

The annual concert is staged by the Chesterville Center Union Meeting House board, to help fund the revitalization of the historic building and repurpose it for future generations to use as a community resource for events of all kinds.

This year’s planned events include a geology presentation, a slide show of a local couple’s historic cross-country canoe trek, a quilt, axe and old tool exhibit, a presentation on the history of the Chesterville Linscott family, and a children’s reading program.
