CHESTERVILLE  – The Wiles, a dynamic trio of acoustic musicians Ellie Buckland, Mali Obomsawin and Isa Burke, all of whom have recently studied at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, will perform for the annual Friends of the Chesterville Center Meeting House annual fundraising concert, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 12.

For the past three years the meeting house, a nonprofit organization, has succeeded in meeting its annual operating costs largely through the proceeds generated by a concert featuring talented musicians who are donating their performance.
The Wiles, play a variety of American roots music, including bluegrass, folk, old-time, blues and contemporary indie folk-rock using guitar, banjo, fiddle, upright bass, and the tight harmonies of their rich voices. They have played at folk festivals and urban venues, as well as throughout Maine.
Prior to the concert, at 6:30 p.m., there will be an open jam, in which anyone may participate.

The annual concert is staged by the Chesterville Center Union Meeting House board, which is seeking to revitalize the historic building and re-purpose it for future generations.  This year’s planned events include a geology presentation, a slide show of a local couple’s historic cross-country canoe trek, a quilt, axe and old tool exhibit, a presentation on the history of Chesterville’s Linscott Family, and a children’s reading program.

The Center Meeting House is located at the corner of the Borough and Zion’s Hill Roads in Chesterville. Admission to the June 12 concert will be by donation of the donor’s choice. FMI call Paul at 620-4137. The meeting house website is found at www.chestervillemeetinghouse.org
