AUBURN — Associates from the Lewiston Liberty Mutual office volunteered at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice’s Hospice House during “Serve with Liberty” for the second year in a row. The team of 15 volunteers, along with AHCH staff, restored the Reflection Trail and grounds after a long winter.
The Reflection Trail was built by a local boy scout troop for patients and families to enjoy in 2007.
“Reflection is the process of thinking about our experiences and attributing meaning to them. It occurs naturally and is the key to learning new things and increasing understanding,” said Karen Flynn, AHCH hospice director.
The trail begins at the entrance of AHCH’s Hospice House and winds 300 yards through the woods. The trail provides an opportunity for individuals, patients and families a place to reflect, pray, talk and process all that is happening in a nature environment.
“We are blessed to have a committed group of volunteers from Liberty Mutual that care enough about what we do to spend the time preparing the trail for another season for our patients and their families,” said Julie Shackley, AHCH President and CEO.
