Lovell thrift shop to hold sale, annouces thrift shop hours

LOVELL — The thrift shop of the Lovell United Church of Christ will offer a $1 bag sale from Monday, June 8, to Saturday, June 20, on Route 5.  The thrift shop will also include free toys and books.

The thrift shop is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. It will be closed Saturday, June 13; Monday, June 22; and Wednesday, June 24. 

Stephen’s High Class of 1951 to meet

MEXICO — Stephen’s High School Class of 1951 will hold its June luncheon at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the Covered Wagon, Main Street.

Foothills Land Conservancy to gather for annual meeting

WILTON — The Foothills Land Conservancy will hold its annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the Academy Hill School Cafeteria in Wilton.

As part of the meeting, Nancy Prentiss, a faculty member at the University of Maine at Farmington who was recently recognized for the discovery of a new species of marine worm, will present a talk and slideshow about the plants found on the Foothills Land Conservancy preserve.

The public is invited to attend.

Daughters of the American Revolution to hold meeting

NEW GLOUCESTER — The Mary Dillingham Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Opportunity Farm on 215 Gloucester Hill Road.

Those who plan on attending should bring a bag lunch and prepare to craft with Wilda Lewis. Prospective members are welcome.

Quilters to hold meeting

RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at the Rumford United Methodist Church on Linnell Street. Make-your-own ice cream sundaes will be available for this last meeting of the season. All area quilters invited.

Participants in the Spring Fabric Swap are being asked to bring at least 20 10-inch squares of a large floral, 100-percent cotton fabric print that has been washed, dried and pressed.

A demonstration on the color wheel is planned. Quilters are welcome to bring their mystery quilts for show and tell.
