FARMINGTON — Although final Heal point standings were not finalized late Tuesday night, the Mt. Blue baseball team and Mt. Abram softball team should be competing in post season play this season.

Mt. Blue softball (5-11) after making the playoffs last season appear to have finished one spot out of contention. Mt. Abram baseball (2-14) failed to qualify, as did Mt. Blue lacrosse (1-11).

A three game losing streak to end the season has the Cougar baseball squad shaking their heads after beating a couple of top teams in the middle of the season. Mt. Blue could finish as the No. 7 seed, in Eastern A, traveling to No. 2, which could be either Edward Little or Messalonskee, pending the outcome of final regular season games.

Mt. Blue’s season is complete, finishing 7-9. Baseball quarterfinals are set for Thursday, June 11.

Pitching will be crucial in the playoffs, with Colton Lawrence, Amos Herrin, Evan Roberts and Ryan Pratt capable of shutting down opponents.

Mt. Abram softball scrambled to gain the No. 10 seed in Western C. Although the Roadrunners lost their final game of the regular season, it was an impressive 2-1 decision to highly regarded Dirigo. Mt. Abram (6-10) will play a preliminary round game on the road, most likely traveling to No. 7 Lisbon, if the seedings stand up after final games are played Tuesday.

Preliminary games are set for Tuesday, June 9.
