FARMINGTON — The highly successful Mt. Blue tennis teams will take to the courts this week in quarterfinal Eastern A play-off action. Mt. Blue girls play at home, Wednesday and the boys away Thursday.
Mt. Blue girls finished regular season play at 9-3, good enough to earn the No. 4 seed. The Cougars are slated to host No. 5 Brewer (8-4), Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m
A win moves the Cougars into the semifinals against the winner of the No. 1 Lewiston v No. 8 Bangor match, on Saturday.
Thursday, the Mt. Blue boys will travel to Hampden to take on the Broncos. The Cougar boys finished at 8-4, in the No. 5 slot. Hampden was No. 4 at 9-3.
A win will have Mt. Blue playing the winner of No. 1 Brunswick v No. 8 Brewer, on Saturday.
Expected to compete in singles for the Cougar girls are: Eryn Doiron, Jennie Chen and Grace McIntosh with doubles teams comprised of Addie Schanz and Charlotte Thibodeau; and Lilly Kendall and Sierra Hoes.
On the boys side, expected to take on Hampden are singles: Sullivan Abbott, Evan Backus and Alex Bunnell, while in doubles the Cougars look to Dylan Roberts and Tom Marshall; and Drew Parsons and Jack Leopold.
