SOUTH PARIS — The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will hold its June dance from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, June 13 at the Oxford Hills Middle School.
Don Bachelder, of Bernardston, Mass., will call Mainstream and Plus Dancing. Sandra Burke, of Herman, will cue the rounds. Admission is $6. The dance will offer refreshments, a 50/50 drawing and door prizes. The dance’s host and hostesses are Melody Cox, of Bryant Pond, Robert Weaver, of Norway, and Pam Reed, of Bridgton. Non-dancers are welcome at no charge.
The club has also installed new officers. The club’s outgoing co-presidents, Eleanor and Bob Herrick, of Auburn, passed the gavel to the incoming co-presidents, Carla and Paul LaRoche, of Windham, at the annual club meeting May 8.
Other officers installed were Melody Cox, of Bryant Pond, and Ellen Janerico, of Harrison, co-vice presidents; Chandler Wright, of Greenwood, secretary; and Esther Tucker, of Poland, treasurer. Bob and Eleanor Herrick, of Auburn, and Robert Weaver, of Norway, were named directors. Ellen Janerico is the program director and Esther Tucker is managing the publicity for the club.
The club held its last day of workshops until September on Wednesday, May 27. Club Caller Ray Hilton, of Saco, graduated four students who completed the course to become mainstream dancers: Carol and Frank Gagnon, of Naples, and Julie and Nikki Saunders, of Sumner. They were welcomed into the club as new members. Also welcomed into the club were Dick and Joan Deans, of Hebron, who were members of the club for many years but had taken a leave of absence. This year they took a refresher course along with the class. The youngest member, Mackenzie Wadsworth, received her ‘angel’ pin.
The club will hold a class for beginners in September.
