1954 – 2015

MEXICO — Cynthia “Cindy” S. McCaffrey, 60, of Mexico, passed away at her home on Saturday, June 6, as a result of a heart attack.

She was born on Dec. 18, 1954, a daughter of Walston S. Barrett Jr. and Bertha “Betty” (Richards) Barrett. She was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1973.

Cindy married husband, Harley McCaffrey, on Feb. 14, 1981.

She lived and worked in the Mexico area all of her life. Cindy held various jobs, but most of all she enjoyed her time at Rumford Elementary School, where she worked in the kitchen and spent each day with so many children. She worked at Tambrands, Harvest Hill Farms as a baker, in the gift shop at TW Lawn Care, where she could share her love and knowledge of gardening, and most recently was working at Oxford County Mental Health.

Cindy loved being with children, gardening, painting, her two dogs, Dillon and Bub, and especially her family. Her dream was to be a wife and mother and she was the best there was. Cindy was a kind, compassionate and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She believed that you should take time be thankful for everything you have, you could always have more, but you could always have less.
