AUGUSTA — AARP Maine is hosting their first “Scam Jam” on Thursday, June 11th from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center.
The event will raise awareness about common scams and fraud in Maine, including Maine’s top crime: Identity theft. Attorney General Janet Mills is the keynote speaker.
Additional speakers include U.S. Postal Inspector, Michael Desrosiers and representatives from the Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection, the Office of Securities, and AARP Maine. From 12-1 p.m. MPBN will host a live radio broadcast of Maine Calling directly from the event. Morning breakout sessions will be held covering identity theft, online scams and credit card fraud, imposter scams, and investment fraud.
This event is free and an audience of 275 is expected. Complimentary breakfast and lunch will be provided.
