Schooner Estates to honor resident

AUBURN — Schooner Estates will host an event to present Schooner resident Judith Isaacson with a Remember ME Lifetime Achievement Award at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 19.

The award was officially bestowed by the Maine Health Care Association last month at an event in Augusta, but Judith was unable to attend.

Schooner Estates will present her with the award at a short ceremony to be attended by her family, her fellow Schooner Estates residents and notable community members.

Community yard sale seeking vendors

AUBURN — The United New Auburn Association will hold a community yard sale from 9 to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20, in the combined parking lots of Rolly’s Diner and the New Auburn Social Club.

A $10.00 donation fee reserves each space, with the proceeds going towards the various community projects that UNAA helps support. Beneficiaries this year are Marshall’s Popcorn Truck and the Walton School running track.

Maine Romance Writers to meet

LEWISTON — Maine Romance Writers will hold their June meeting at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at DaVinci’s Eatery, 150 Mill St.

The workshop is “Breathless: Pacing the Novel,” and will feature Elaine Isaak, founder of Poets Unbound. The formal meeting will follow with an informal brown bag lunch social. 

Non-member guests are welcome and encouraged to attend all or part of the meeting. First time guests are welcome to attend free of charge, but will be charged a $5 program fee for subsequent visits.

Lewiston Public Library announces Adult Summer Reading Program

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Public Library is announcing its 2015 Adult Summer Reading Program with an “Escape the Ordinary” theme.

The library will host a kickoff event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 20.

Registration for all summer programs begins the week of June 22 for children, teens and adults.

Liberty Festival in need of vendors, volunteers

LEWISTON — The Liberty Festival, Lewiston/Auburn’s annual Fourth of July celebration, and will take place on Saturday, July 4.

The festival will include stage performances, food and merchandise vendors to keep visitors busy throughout the day and night.

Volunteer positions are available throughout the weekend for positions many positions, from set-up to take-down, information booth and parking lot attendants.

Additionally, the festival still has booth and display space available for local vendors.
