LIVERMORE FALLS — Regional School Unit 73 welcomed three new members to the board Thursday night.
Joel Pike of Jay replaces former member Darcie Calden, who chose not to run again. Hollander Richards of Livermore replaces Tim Madden who also chose not to seek another three-year term. Laurie Sanborn, a former Livermore Falls selectman, ran unopposed for the seat vacated more than a year ago by Carmen Cullen. Cullen’s seat has been filled by at least two other residents of Livermore Falls for short periods.
Also welcomed to fill the Adult and Community Education director position was Robyn Raymond of Farmington, who filled a vacancy that has been open for the past several months when director Eileen Miazga left.
Raymond comes to RSU 73 from the University of Maine at Farmington, where she served as the assistant director of housing and academic success. She is one course away from the certification for adult education.
The board also held election of officers. Chairwoman Denise Rodzen of Livermore Falls and Vice Chairman Michael Morrell of Jay were re-elected.
The board also took the official legal step of transferring the former Livermore Falls High School and Livermore Falls Middle School from the former RSU 36 to RSU 73. The intention is to transfer both buildings to the town of Livermore Falls.
In other matters, the board accepted the resignations of Spruce Mountain High School social studies teacher Nathan Purrington and Spruce Mountain Middle School English Language Arts teacher Kimberly Hilton.
Jayne Flagg was hired as middle school mathematics teacher and Susan Lyons was hired as a pre-kindergarten teacher at Livermore Elementary School.
The board will meet Thursday, June 25, but Rodzen said that unless something comes up that needs action, the board will not meet in July.
They will resume regular meetings in August.
