Bridge club lists results

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Monday, June 8, were, first, Dick Allen and Richard Ballian; second, Marta Clements and Bill Clifford; third and first in C, Sue Kaluzynski and Kathy Burden; fourth, Jan and Vern Arey; fifth and second in C, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe. 

Winners on Tuesday, June 9th were, first, Paul Sherman and Mike True; second, Jan and Vern Arey; and third, Sue Kaluzynski and Kathy Burden.

Games are played Mondays and Tuesdays at 9 a.m. in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcomed.

Edward Little High to host benefit dinner, silent auction

AUBURN — Edward Little High School will host a pasta benefit dinner and silent auction from 6 to 8:30 p.m Saturday, June 20.

There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds will help support the Escape from Freedom movement.

Moninda Maurbe will speak of his childhood in Kenya and his experience of coming to the United States as an elite runner only to become a victim of human trafficking. Maurbe will run from Auburn to Santa Barbara, Calif.

Chief Crowell of the Auburn Police Department will be a guest speaker. 

Tickets can be purchased at Heathco’s Pizza & Variety, Pizza Market, Center Street Cafe, YMCA, Haggerty Realty and Lotus Restaurant. Tickets are $10.

West Minot Grange to host annual Strawberry Festival

WEST MINOT — The annual Strawberry Festival will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, June 21, at the West Minot Grange.

Homemade ice cream, homemade pies, shortcakes, sundaes and beverages will be served. Admission is $5 for adults and children younger than 12 are $2.

Herb and Plant Sale begins at Shaker Village

NEW GLOUCESTER — Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village will hold its annual herb and plant sale throughout the month of June. The sale will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

Since 1783, the Shakers have been active in the cultivation of herbs and the production of herbal products. This tradition continues today and supplies widespread holistic herbal and gardening interests.

Rare and common herbs and plants are available for purchase. Shaker Village is located at 707 Shaker Road.
