1924 – 2015

MANCHESTER, Conn. — Marcel Rosaire Jutras, 91, Lewiston and Manchester, Conn., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2.

He was the son of Edmond and Anna (Schmidt) Jutras and the beloved husband of Carmen (Oullette) Jutras for 67 years. He was born in Lewiston on Feb. 5, 1924, one of 12 children.

Marcel served in the European Campaign during World War II. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his heroism and a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf. He was proudly a part of Company C 692 Tank Destroyer Battalion. Upon being honorably discharged from the Army he built his barber shop in Lewiston. The experience left him with the realization that he preferred cutting wood to cutting hair.

He and Carmen moved to Manchester, Conn., where he built his carpentry business. Marcel freely gave of his time and carpentry skills to organizations which he was passionate about, including St. James Church, St. Bridget Church and the VFW.

Marcel leaves behind his four children and their families, Diane Cormier Bouchard, Catherine McCann, James Jutras and Glenn Jutras. He also leaves 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Delores.
