Marie Kohtala of Vienna had a wonderful 80th birthday party given by her family Sunday, May 30th at the Vienna Fire Department’s Community Room. The room was filled with many well wishers family, friends, and neighbors.

I received a e-mail from Libby Harville about the following performance to be held at the Vienna Union Hall: “American Songbook 2-from originals to Bluegrass to Jazz”. Performing for a second time at the Union Hall will be Kyle Knuppel with Matt Davis and Surprise Rhythm players.

Those of us who went to hear this unknown performer last year were blown away by this talented singer. He is amazing with a voice as smooth as silk.

Kyle made his living as a singer songwriter in New York City before deciding to switch his career path to medicine. He was, and will be, accompanied by his good friend, Matt Davis, living in Philadelphia, working there and New York City in the music field teaching, performing, and arranging. Both these guys are SO talented! You really don’t want to miss them again.

The performance is this Saturday, June 13 at 7 p.m. in the Vienna Union Hall.

Ticket information: Prepaid tickets $8, at the door $10. FMI, call Libby at 293-2362 or e-mail [email protected] or call Dodi Thompson at 293-2670.

I don’t know where the school year went. Four more days and the kids are off for the summer.

Speaking of summer, as I write this report it is more like early spring. The temperature is 62 in my kitchen, and it’s damp and raw outside. I think Mother Nature is asleep somewhere. Kids, enjoy your summer.
