LEWISTON — To honor couples marking milestone wedding anniversaries in 2015, Bishop Robert P. Deeley will celebrate the Silver and Gold Mass at Holy Family Church on 607 Sabattus St. in Lewiston at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 27. 

As they did on their respective wedding days, the couples will once again join hands to receive a special blessing from the bishop.

“We acknowledge the abiding goodness of what can happen when an individual chooses to embrace marriage and publicly commit his or her life to another,” said Bishop Deeley during last year’s Silver and Gold Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland. “I think the way to strengthen a marriage is to have a relationship with Jesus. Focused on ourselves, we can truly look to the interests of the other. And that makes a marriage – two people joined together in a commitment to make the other first.”

Milestone anniversaries celebrated at the 2014 Silver and Gold Mass spanned from five to seventy years of marriage.

All are encouraged to attend this special Mass.
