KINGFIELD –The Schoolhouse Gallery, at 266 Main St. in Kingfield, will open an exhibit of Maj. Matt Mason-inspired photographs during the art walk set for 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 26.
These photographs feature images taken during the late 1960s, amid the heyday of the NASA space exploration program.  Mattel action space figure Maj. Matt Mason and his four companions, Sgt. Storm, Ben Long, civilian astronaut Doug Davis, and Callisto the Jovian (from Jupiter) were photographed over 50 years ago by John Orcutt.

Using current digital technology, these classic action figures have been superimposed into landscapes made from modern day imagery from the Hubbell Telescope and other space photography — creating  fantasy space action scenes.  Cam Held was the master of the digital creations.  The crew is depicted in a variety of nonviolent missions, adventures and discoveries.

All art walk venues  are open to the public and will serve refreshments.  The Maj. Mason exhibit will remain on display at the Schoolhouse Gallery through August.
