Virginia “Mammee” Pearl White

1945-2015

Virginia “Mammee” Pearl White, 69, of Avon died at home on June 10, 2015 with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Farmington on Nov. 7, 1945, the daughter of Benjamin F. and Pearl L. (Ames) Savage. She had been a resident of Avon for most of her life.

In 1963, she married Lawrence O. White in Phillips. Throughout her husband’s military career, Ginny worked at many post exchanges and while they were stationed in Hawaii, she was the Assistant Manager for the Post Exchange at Schofield Barracks.

In 1970, she graduated as a Certified Nursing Assistant from Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. At the University of Utah, she became the supervisor of the Medical Transport Team for four years. She worked as a CNA at Edgewood Manor in Farmington for thirteen years.

Ginny was a member of the Oppalunski Eastern Star Chapter #125 of Phillips and the Prescott Fairbanks American Legion Auxiliary Post #64 in Phillips. Ginny was a true nature lover. She was an avid gardener and loved canning her garden vegetables. She also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and many crafts. Most of all, Ginny loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by; her husband of 52 years, Lawrence O. White of Avon; her daughter, Veronica N. Rodrigue and husband Leo of Oxford; her best friend and buddy and grandson, Terrell Lee White and fiance’ Jenna Hanning; step grandsons, Jake Rodrigue and wife Danielle, Lucas Rodrigue and wife Jessica; her great grandchildren, Brody, Kaydence, Makenzi, Cane, Alexis, Leland; her sisters, Jan White of Scarborough, Pat Martin of Lincoln, Eloise Stevens of Strong, Geraldine Smith and husband Lewis, Jr. of Farmington, Birdena Rowe of Avon; her brother, Richard Savage and wife Phyllis of Phillips; her sisters in-law, Beverly Savage of Jay, Dot Savage of Avon, Rae Savage of Jay. She was predeceased by; her parents; her brothers, Benjamin Savage Jr., Reginald Savage, Donald Savage, Frank Savage; great-granddaughter, Abigail Rodrigue.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Phillips Congregational Church, 4 Sawyer St, Phillips with Rev. Robert Edgarton officiating. Interment will be at the Mile Square Cemetery in Avon. A reception will follow, location to be announced later. Gertrude B. Spiller

Gertrude B. Spiller, 93, of Sandy River Plantation passed away on June 10, 2015 at the Sandy River Center in Farmington where she had resided for the past six months.

She was born on Dec. 25, 1921 in Woonsocket, RI, the daughter of Henry and Evelina (Menard) Shea. Gert was educated in the schools of Woonsocket and graduated from Woonsocket High School in the class of 1938. She married Harold Spiller Jr. on Aug. 17, 1955 in Woonsocket, RI and they had made their home in Sandy River Plantation since then.

For many years, she served as the Tax Collector and later on, drove the school bus for Sandy River Plantation. Gert also worked for H. A. Furbish Insurance Co. In Rangeley as the office manager. She was a member of the Rangeley Lakes American Legion Auxiliary Post 120, St. Luke’s Catholic Church, and the Catholic Womens Club. She loved flower gardening. Gert helped out with many Legion and Masonic suppers and was very giving of her time for town functions and craft fairs. She was a very loving, caring and extremely generous person, making donations to many, many causes.

She is survived by; her husband of 59 years, Harold “Hack” Spiller Jr. of Rangeley; her two daughters, Virginia “Ginny” and husband James of Rangeley, Barbara Lowell of Rangeley; her two granddaughters, Catherine Lowell of Strong, Lisa Lowell of Stratton; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Christine Lowell.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 9 Lake St., Rangeley with Fr. Paul Plante as celebrant. The Catholic Womens Club will host a reception at the church following the service.

Charles W. Raymond

Committal services for Charles W. Raymond of Rangeley will be held on Sunday, June 21 at 1 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Rangeley with Rev. Judd Pealer, officiating. Cremation and memorial services are being provided by the Wiles Remembrance Center of Farmington.

Graveside services for Elizabeth Cushman, who died on Jan. 12, 2015, will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11 a.m., at the Pratt Corner Cemetery, on Rte. 27 in New Vineyard, with Rev.
