FARMINGTON — The Farmington Falcons have clinched first place in the Franklin County Babe Ruth League with one game remaining in the regular season posting a 7-0 record.
Last week the Falcons ran their season long win streak to seven games with a 16-5 win over the Farmington Merchants and an 8-3 decision over the AYS Eagles.
The Merchants made a strong bid to upset the Falcons scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning when the first, five Merchants reached base. Jagger Bullen provided the big hit in the inning, a two RBI single to give the Merchants a 5-0 lead.
The Falcons slowly chipped away at the Merchants lead eventually taking the lead in the fourth inning scoring six times, paced by a two RBI single from Garrett Sullivan.
Standings in the league are Farmington Falcons 7-0, Wilton Bears 5-2, AYS Eagles 3-4, AYS Hawks 1-5, Farmington Merchants 1-6.
